The #JuniorStarlets delivered a magnificent comeback to defeat South Africa 3-1 and secure a dominant 5-1 aggregate victory, booking Kenya''s place at the FIFA U-17 Women''s World Cup for the second consecutive edition.
After falling behind early, Kenya responded with courage, resilience and belief.
Captain Bevarline Awuor nearly restored parity with a powerful header before the Junior Starlets took complete control of the contest. Gaudancia Maloba orchestrated play brilliantly from midfield alongside the tireless Mwanakombo Bakari, while Faith Boke, Lindey Weey and Noelina Akuku constantly stretched the South African defence with exciting attacking football.
The breakthrough finally came in the 70th minute when Gaudancia Maloba calmly slotted home the equaliser, sending the stadium into celebration.
With momentum firmly on Kenya''s side, Liz Achieng won a late penalty before Brenda Omollo confidently converted from the spot in the 85th minute. Moments later, Elizabeth Alizeba sealed the victory with a composed finish, completing an unforgettable 3-1 comeback.
At the other end, Mishel Okoyo remained composed under pressure while Kenya''s defence stood firm to preserve a famous victory.
But this achievement belongs to more than the eleven players on the pitch.
